01What a restore point holds
Your restore points are in Settings -> Restore points. You see this page if your role may manage the site, for example the Admin role.
A restore point holds:
the design: brand colours, fonts, corners and background
every page, and the header and footer menus
blog posts with their categories, tags and listen recordings
portfolio work
the questions in your forms and feedback forms
the titles and alt texts of the files in your media library
almost every site setting, for example SEO, the cookie notice and trackers, notification recipients and the chat widget
A restore never deletes or changes form and feedback answers. A form the restore point does not contain is switched off, not deleted, so the answers you already have stay with it.
02What a restore point does not hold
Some things are not in a restore point, so a restore leaves them as they are:
Answers to your forms and feedback forms. Read more in Forms.
Bookings and payments, and the settings of those modules.
Connection keys and passwords, maintenance mode, the email setup and the AI autopilot settings.
Header and footer designs that you bought.
The schedule of automatic restore points.
A restore point holds the titles and alt texts of your files, not the files themselves. A file you delete from the media library stays in storage while a restore point still holds it, so a restore can bring it back. Until then it counts toward your storage.
03When Husly saves one by itself
Husly saves a restore point before changes that are hard to undo by hand. In the list, each point has a name that says why it was saved:
| When | Name in the list |
|---|---|
| Before you apply a template in Designs | Before applying a template |
| Before the AI assistant, the AI autopilot or a connected AI app (for example Claude or ChatGPT) changes the site | Before an AI assistant run |
| Before the first automatic save of an editing session, when Auto-save is on | Before an automatic save |
| Before every restore | Before a restore |
| On your own schedule, if you turn it on | On a schedule |
| Before a WordPress import | Automatic restore point |
A connected AI app gets one restore point before its first change. Its changes in the next 30 minutes share that point, and a change after that saves a new one. A point before an automatic save is made at most once in 10 minutes.
An empty site has nothing to save, so Husly makes no restore point for it.
04Save one yourself or on a schedule
Save a restore point before a big change, for example before you redo the homepage.
Open Settings -> Restore points.
Press Create restore point.
If you want, type a name under Name this restore point. The name shows in the list.
Press Create restore point again. The site itself does not change.
Husly can also save a restore point on a schedule. It is off at first.
Press the button next to Create restore point. It shows how often points are saved, at first Automatic off.
Under How often, pick a time, for example Every day. Or set your own under Or set it exactly, from 1 hour to 30 days.
Under How many restore points to keep, pick a number from 3 to 30.
Press Save.
A scheduled point is saved only when something on the site has changed, so an untouched site uses no room.
05Restore your site
Open Settings -> Restore points. At the top is The site right now, and below it your restore points, newest first. All, Mine and Automatic filter the list.
Click a restore point. What this restore point holds shows its contents.
Pick Whole restore point or Choose parts.
Read What restoring would change. It counts the pages that are kept, recreated, untouched and deleted, and Worth knowing lists anything else to check.
Press Restore the site to this point or Restore the selected parts, and confirm.
Whole restore point: everything in the point goes back to how it was. Content the point does not contain is deleted or switched off.
Choose parts: only what you tick is restored, for example one page or the design. Nothing is deleted, and the rest of the site is left alone.
If a restore deletes a page with A/B tests, the tests and their data are deleted for good. No restore point brings them back. Before you can go on, tick I understand these A/B tests are deleted for good.
Before every restore, Husly saves the whole site as a new restore point, Before a restore. To undo, restore that point. This also works when you restored only some parts.
After an AI assistant run in the builder, Undo in the assistant puts back the state from before the run. It saves the current state first too.
06How long restore points are kept
Husly keeps restore points by number, not by date. When a new automatic point is saved and there are already enough of its kind, the oldest one of that kind is deleted. Automatic points never push out the ones you saved yourself.
| Restore points | How many are kept |
|---|---|
| Saved by you | 5. They stay until you delete them. |
| Before a restore | The last 3 |
| Before an automatic save | The last 5 |
| All other automatic points | The last 10, or the number you set under How many restore points to keep (3 to 30) |
Points saved by you and points saved before a restore have the label Kept.
When you have 5 points of your own, delete one before you save a new one. Open the point and press the bin icon (Delete restore point). A deleted restore point is gone for good, but your site does not change.
Restore points count toward your plan's storage, like your media files. When the storage is full, you cannot save a point by hand, and scheduled points and points before an automatic save are skipped. Points before a template, an AI change or a restore are still saved. Delete an old restore point to free room.
