01Put the booking where people look
Someone who wants to book decides in a few seconds. If they have to look for the button, many leave. Make booking the easiest thing on the page.
Put a booking button at the top of the home page and on every page that sells something.
Check the page on a phone. Many people book from one, often in the evening.
Show the price and the length of each service next to it. People book what they understand.
Do not hide booking behind a contact form. "Write to us to agree a time" means waiting, and waiting loses customers.
Ask only for what you need: a name, a way to reach the person and the time.
In Husly, the booking sits on the page itself. In the builder, add the block that fits: Book an appointment, Events or Rental catalogue. A hair salon puts the appointment block on the home page and on each service page, so a visitor who reads about colouring can book without leaving the page.
Open your site on your phone and book a time yourself, from the first page to the end. Count the taps. Every step you can remove is a booking you keep.
02Pick the tool that fits what you sell
Bookings come in three shapes. Each needs its own tool, and the wrong one makes booking harder than it has to be.
| What you sell | Example | Husly tool |
|---|---|---|
| A time with a person | A haircut, a massage, a consultation | Appointments, Standard plan and up |
| A seat on a set date | A cooking school's Saturday workshop, a talk, a concert | Events: free events in every plan, paid tickets from Standard |
| A thing for a period | Bikes, kayaks, tools | The Rentals add-on |
Appointments know your services, your staff, their working hours and your locations. One person can never be booked twice for the same time.
An event has a set number of seats. When one seat is left and two people try to take it at once, only one of them gets it.
Rentals have listings, a booking calendar and their own rules for how the renter pays.
The setup of each tool, step by step, is in the help center: Bookings and payments.
03Keep your calendar honest
A booking you have to cancel is worse than no booking at all. Show only the times you can really keep.
Set the real working hours of each person.
Connect the calendar you already use, so that a dentist visit in your own calendar closes that time on the site.
Decide whether a new booking is confirmed at once or waits for you.
Husly syncs with Google, Outlook and Apple calendars both ways. Connect yours in Tools -> Integrations. Then use What closes times to let busy times in your calendar close appointment or rental times on the site. At first it closes nothing, so this step is yours. Event seats are not closed this way.
In the appointment settings, Confirm bookings automatically decides the rest. When it is on, a new booking is confirmed at once. When it is off, the booking waits until you confirm it. A customer who gets an answer at once is less likely to keep looking elsewhere, so confirm by hand only if you really must check each booking.
04Fewer no-shows with a deposit and a reminder
An empty chair costs as much as a full one. Two things help most: a small payment up front and a reminder before the day.
Ask for money up front
A customer who has already paid something is more likely to come. For each appointment service, choose under What the customer pays now: Nothing, pays at the visit, The whole price or A deposit. A hair salon can keep a short cut free to book and ask a deposit for a three-hour colouring.
Events can ask for a deposit too, with Ask for a deposit on a price package. In Rentals, you choose how the renter pays: online when booking, at pickup, or the renter chooses. With card payments, a rental deposit can be held on the card and charged only if something is damaged.
Write your cancellation rule next to the booking button, for example: free to cancel up to 24 hours before. A clear rule is fair to the customer and easier for you.
Card payments are part of every paid plan and of the Rentals add-on. The money goes to your own payment account, which you connect in Tools -> Integrations. Then turn each way to pay on in the module too. While a customer pays, Husly holds the time or the seat for 30 minutes.
Payments can run in test mode first. The module then says that no real money moves. Make one booking yourself in test mode before you switch to real money.
Remind people the day before
People forget, and a short reminder email the day before fixes much of that. In Appointments, Remind customers a day before is on from the start. Rentals send a reminder before pickup and before return, also on from the start.
People who sign up for an event get no automatic reminder. If the event matters, write to them yourself the day before. You find them under Attendees.
05Fill the times that open up
Even with a deposit, someone cancels now and then. The time is not lost if someone else is ready to take it.
In the appointment settings, turn on Waiting list for full days. It is off at first. When every time on a day is booked, a customer can join that day's waiting list. When a time opens, everyone waiting gets an email, and the first to book gets the time.
Look at which times stay empty week after week. Move your hours, or offer something shorter for those times.
Tell your regulars on your usual channels when a good time opens up.
Events have no waiting list. When an event fills up, add another date as a new event.
06Answer questions before people leave
A visitor with one open question often leaves to ask it somewhere else, and books there. Answer the usual questions on the page itself: where to park, what to bring, what happens if you are late.
For everything else, a live chat lets people ask while they are still on the page. The Husly chat is part of the Standard plan and up. With the AI plan, AI can answer in the chat too. More about it: Live chat.
A cooking school hears the same three questions before every workshop. Is there a vegetarian option? Can I come alone? Do I need my own knife? Three lines on the event page answer them for everyone at once.
07Let happy customers speak for you
People trust other customers more than they trust you. Show what real customers said, close to the booking button.
With Husly Feedback (Standard plan and up), customers can leave you feedback. The answers you mark as public can show on your site in a testimonials block. In Rentals, each review is tied to a booking. More about it: Feedback.
Ask for feedback yourself, in person or in your own message, while the visit is still fresh.
Show a name and the service only with the customer's permission.
Keep the quotes short and put them where people decide to book.
