01The three modules
You find the three modules in the admin's sidebar: Appointments, Events and Rentals. Each one has its own settings and its own block for your pages.
| Module | Plan | How the customer can pay |
|---|---|---|
| Appointments | Standard and up | At the visit, or the whole price or a deposit when booking |
| Events | Free events also on the Free plan, paid tickets from Standard | Online, at the event or by bank transfer |
| Rentals | An add-on (price on the pricing page) | Online when booking, at pickup, or the renter chooses |
Online payments are on in every paid plan and off on the Free plan. Buying the Rentals add-on turns them on too. More about each module: Appointments, Events, Rentals.
02Set up appointments
Open Appointments and turn on Booking on for the site.
Add what you offer: under Services, press Add service. Add the people who do the work: under Staff, press Add staff member.
Set your working hours under Hours and press Save hours. Add your place under Locations with Add location.
In each service, open Payment when booking and choose What the customer pays now: Nothing, pays at the visit, The whole price or A deposit.
Under Settings -> Ways to pay, choose the ways to pay your customers can use.
In the builder, add the Book an appointment block to a page.
How to add a block and publish the page: see Pages and menus.
03Set up events
Open Events and turn on Registration on for the site.
Press New event, fill in the event and press Publish.
To sell tickets, press Add a price package. If you want part of the price paid in advance, choose Ask for a deposit.
Under Settings -> Ways to pay, choose how people pay: online, At the event or Bank transfer.
Add the Events block to a page. The people who register appear under Attendees.
Free events work on the Free plan too. Paid tickets need the Standard plan or higher.
04Set up rentals
Buy the Rentals add-on. Then open Rentals and turn on Module active on the site.
Under Listings, press New listing and describe what you rent out.
In the listing, open Rental rules and choose How the renter pays: Online, when booking, At pickup or The renter chooses.
Under Settings -> Payments, turn on the ways you accept: Card payments online, PayPal online, Bank link online or Klarna online.
Add the Rental catalogue block to a page. New bookings appear under Bookings and in the Calendar.
05Connect a payment account
Online payments go to a payment account you connect yourself. Open Tools -> Integrations and look under Payments. The Available tab shows what you can connect, and Installed shows what is already connected.
| Card in Integrations | What it takes | What you enter |
|---|---|---|
| Card payments | Cards, through Stripe | Secret key, Webhook signing secret, Publishable key |
| PayPal | PayPal | Client ID and Secret |
| Montonio | Bank links | Access Key and Secret Key |
| Klarna | Klarna, through Stripe | Connect Stripe first |
Cards with Stripe
Open Card payments.
Copy the Webhook address shown on the same screen and add it as a webhook in your Stripe account, in test mode and in live mode. Stripe then gives you its signing secret.
Fill in Secret key (a restricted key that starts with
rk_), Webhook signing secret and Publishable key. Press Save and check.Turn on Card payments on.
PayPal, Montonio and Klarna
PayPal: fill in the Client ID and the Secret, choose the Environment, press Save and check and turn on PayPal on.
Montonio (bank links): fill in the Access Key and the Secret Key, choose the Environment and turn on Bank links on.
Klarna: connect Stripe first. In your Stripe Dashboard, turn on Klarna under Settings -> Payment methods, in test mode and in live mode. Then press Check Klarna and turn on Klarna on. Klarna itself decides which buyers it serves.
A connected account is not enough on its own. Turn each way to pay on in the module as well, under its Settings or on its Integrations tab. They are off at first. A customer sees a way to pay only when both the account and the module switch are on.
06Test mode and real money
Start with your Stripe test keys. The first keys you save decide the starting mode, so test keys mean test mode. In test mode no real money moves, and real cards are refused. Until you switch, the modules show: Payments are in test mode: no real money moves.
When everything works, switch card payments to real money:
Open Tools -> Integrations and then Card payments.
Fill in the Real-money keys box with your live keys from Stripe. Your test keys stay in the Test keys box.
Under Active environment, choose Real money. Husly asks Switch to real money? Confirm it.
PayPal and Montonio have their own Environment choice: Sandbox (test) or Live (real money). Klarna follows Stripe.
Before you switch, make one test booking yourself and check that it arrives in the module.
Husly holds the chosen time or place for 30 minutes while the customer pays.
07Your calendar
A calendar link (iCal)
A calendar link shows your bookings in your own calendar.
In the module, open the Integrations tab and then Calendar link (iCal).
Press Create calendar link.
Choose Add to Google Calendar, Add to Outlook or Open in calendar app.
The link only reads. What you change in your calendar does not come back to Husly.
Google Calendar refreshes the link every few hours, so a new booking can take a while to show there.
A new link turns the old one off.
Two-way sync
Under Tools -> Integrations, connect Google Calendar, Outlook calendar or Apple Calendar. Apple Calendar needs an app-specific password.
What goes into the calendar: choose rental bookings, appointments and events.
What closes times: at first, nothing. You can let the calendar close rental and appointment times. It does not close events.
In the module, you find this on the Calendar sync tab.
