01How members and roles work
A member is a person who may work on your site in the Husly admin. Each member signs in with their own account, so you never give anyone your password.
Each member has one role on the site. A role is a set of permissions: it decides which parts of the admin the person sees and what they may change. Whoever created the site is a member with the Admin role.
Members and roles belong to one site. If you have several sites, add the person on each site where they should work.
There is no limit on the number of members, on any plan, and no fee per member. See the pricing page.
Members needs the permission Manage members, and Roles needs Manage roles & permissions. The Admin role has both.
02Add a member
Open Users & roles -> Members and press Add member.
In Email, type the person's email address, and pick their Role.
If the person has no Husly account yet, also fill in Name and Password. The password needs at least 8 characters. If they already have an account, Husly finds it by the email, and these two fields are not needed.
Press Add member. The person appears in the list with the role you chose.
Husly does not email the new member. Tell them yourself that they can now sign in at admin.husly.app. A new user signs in with their email and the password you chose, so give them that password.
03The preset roles
Every site starts with four ready-made roles. On the Roles page they are marked Preset. The table shows what each role may do on a new site:
| Role | What it may do |
|---|---|
| Admin | Every permission on the Roles page: content, settings, domains, online payments, members and roles. |
| Editor | All content: pages, media, menus, blog, forms, conversations and the other content tools. Not settings, domains, payments, members or roles. |
| VIP | Pages, media, blog, forms and some other content tools. Not menus, conversations, settings, payments, members or roles. |
| Client | View pages and Manage forms. Nothing else. |
You can change the permissions of a preset role too. The change applies to everyone who has that role.
A preset role cannot be deleted.
04Make your own role
When no preset role fits, make your own and tick exactly the permissions the person needs.
Open Users & roles -> Roles and press New role.
In Key (ID), type a short ID in lowercase letters, digits and underscores, 2 to 40 characters, for example
content_editor. The key cannot be changed later.Fill in Name (Estonian) and Name (English). This is the name people see in the admin. Press Create role.
The new role has no permissions yet. Tick the ones it needs. The permissions are grouped under Content, Site and People, and Select all ticks a whole group at once.
Press Save permissions at the bottom.
With Inherits from, the role gets every permission of another role. Those permissions are ticked and locked, and you tick only the extra ones. For example, a role with everything the Editor has plus Manage members.
Delete role is there only for roles you made yourself. A role that members still have cannot be deleted: give those members another role first.
05Change or remove a member
Each member is a row on the Members page. On the row you can:
Change the role: pick another role in the role list on the row.
Turn the member off for a while: use the Active switch. An inactive member stays in the list, marked Inactive, but cannot work on this site until you turn the switch back on.
Change the name or email: click the row. The User details window opens. The member can sign in with a new email at once.
Set a new password or turn off two-step sign-in: open the menu with three dots on the row and choose Reset password or Reset MFA.
Remove the member from the site: in the same menu, choose Remove from site and confirm with Remove. The person's Husly account stays. They only lose access to this site.
A member's name, email and password are the same on every Husly site. If the person is also a member of another site, you cannot change their name, email, password or MFA here. You can still change their role, turn them off or remove them from your site.
The menu does not let you remove yourself, but Husly does not stop you from giving yourself another role or turning yourself off. Before you change your own role, make sure another active member has the Admin role. Otherwise you may lose access to Members and Roles yourself.
