Your form now asks only what matters, takes files and closes on its own
Forms got five updates: seven new field types and a width for every field, file uploads, fields that show only when they apply, opening and closing times, and a searchable answers inbox with a CSV download.

What this batch of updates covers
For many sites the form is the part that matters most: it is where enquiries, bookings, feedback and registrations come in. On 18 and 19 October five updates reached Husly forms, and together they make building a form and working with its answers easier.
The first two change what a form can ask: seven new field types with a width for every field, and file uploads. The third lets a field show only when an earlier answer calls for it. The fourth gives a form an opening and a closing time, a cap on answers and a page to go to after sending. The fifth makes the answers inbox searchable and lets you download the answers as a CSV file.
All five are already on. Your existing forms need no changes; you use the new options when you need them.
Ask for a date, a time, a rating or a website with the right field
The form editor's Add field menu has seven new field types. There are fifteen types in all now, and the menu groups them under Basic fields, Choices and More.
- Date opens a calendar. A switch, "Only today and later", hides the days that have passed, which suits bookings. Your email shows the answer as "18 October 2026".
- Time offers a list of times in steps of 15, 30 or 60 minutes.
- Website takes a web address. "example.ee" is fine; there is no need to type "https://". Plain words are turned away with a message that names the field.
- Multiple choice lets the visitor tick several options. The answer is the ticked options, separated by commas.
- Rating is five stars. Your email reads it as "4 / 5", and the form's calculation can use a rating like a number.
- Section heading is a title and a line of text between the questions. It asks nothing and is never sent.
- Hidden field is sent with every answer but never shown. It has a fixed value, or it reads its value from a page address parameter such as utm_source, so you can see which campaign or page an enquiry came from.
Every field now has a width as well: the whole row, half or a third. Fields next to each other share a row. The width follows the form's own width: in a narrow form a third sits as a half, and on a phone every field takes the whole row again. A hair salon's booking form can now ask for the day and the time side by side, as the updated booking form template does.
Date and time fields also got a proper calendar and time list on the live site. Before, the classic form drew them as plain text boxes.
Open the form
Go to the Forms page and open the form you want to change. The fields are on the Fields tab.
Press Add field
Pick a type from Basic fields, Choices or More. The new field appears at the end of the list.
Choose the width
Open the field's card and choose Width: Full, Half or Third. Width applies to the classic layout.
Check the preview
The editor preview shows the new fields the way the site does. When it looks right, save the form.
Take files through your form
The new File upload field type lets a visitor attach a file to the form. A roofing company can ask for a photo of the roof with a price enquiry, an employer can ask for a CV with a job application.
The visitor drops a file on the field or chooses one from their device. It uploads at once and the field shows its name and size. The file can be removed again before sending, and the form waits for an upload that is still on its way. A file that is too large or of the wrong type is turned away right there, with the reason in the visitor's language.
In the editor you choose what the field takes: pictures, PDF files or documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OpenDocument, text and CSV), and the largest size: 2, 5, 10 or 20 MB. When nothing is set, the limit is 10 MB.
In the answers inbox, each answer lists its files with their size and a Download button. Your email, the CRM lead and webhooks carry the file's name. Files count towards the site's storage and are deleted with their answer. A file whose answer was never sent is removed after a day.
File upload works in the classic layout. The step-by-step, letter and sentence layouts leave the field out, and the editor says so on the field. An exported static site leaves it out too, because only the live site's form can take files.
The server checks what each file really is, not only its name: a picture must be a real picture and a PDF a real PDF. SVG drawings, web pages, programs and zip archives are refused. The file is kept in the site's own storage and can only be downloaded through the admin.
Show a field only when it applies
A form field can now wait to appear until earlier answers match. A "Company name" field shows only when the visitor picks "I am a company". A private person never sees a question that does not concern them, and the form stays shorter.
A rule only reads fields above its own, so the form is answered from top to bottom. There are four comparisons: is, is not, is filled and is empty. For a field with options the editor offers its options, for a checkbox "ticked", for a rating 1 to 5, and for a text field you type the value. One field can have several rules, and you choose whether all of them must match or one is enough.
A hidden field need not be filled, the calculation does not count it and its answer is not sent. When a field hides, the fields whose rules read it hide too, even if they were already filled. When you rename a field, the rules that read it follow the new name. A field with rules shows a small branch icon on its folded card, so the list tells you at a glance which fields are conditional.
Rules work in the classic layout, in the editor preview and on an exported page. In the step-by-step, letter and sentence layouts every field still shows. The builder canvas shows every field too, so you can style them.
Open the field's card
On the Fields tab, open the field that should appear only in some cases.
Switch the rule on
Switch on the section "Show this field only when...".
Pick a field, a comparison and a value
Pick an earlier field, a comparison and, where needed, a value, for example "Customer" is "I am a company".
Add another rule if needed
Press Add a rule and, next to Show when, choose whether all rules must match or at least one.
Let a form open, close and send the visitor on by itself
The form's Settings tab has a new section, When the form takes answers. There you set an opening time, a closing time and a cap on answers. Outside those times, or once that many answers have come in, the visitor sees the form's title and a message instead of its fields.
You write the message yourself in each language of the site. Left empty, the form says when it opens, that it is closed, or that all places are taken. A registration form for a workshop with twenty places closes itself after the twentieth answer, and the next person sees at once that it is full.
The page reads the times in the visitor's browser and notices when one passes while the page is open, so the form opens and closes on time even when the page came from a cache. The server checks the times and the answer count again on every send. When someone sends the form after it has closed, it says the form is closed rather than that sending failed. The editor will not accept a closing time before the opening time.
The same tab has the field After sending, go to the page. Type a page of your own site, such as /thanks, or an https address. Once the answer is in, the visitor goes there. Left empty, the visitor sees the usual thank-you message. Any other kind of address is refused by the editor, the server and the page alike.
Open Settings
Open the form and go to the Settings tab.
Set the times and the cap
In When the form takes answers, set Opens and Closes and, if needed, Answers up to. An empty cap means unlimited.
Write the message
In Message when the form is closed, write your own text in each language or leave it empty.
Choose a thank-you page
To send the visitor to a page of their own after sending, type it in After sending, go to the page.
Search the answers and download them as CSV
The answers inbox can now be searched and filtered. The search box finds any text in any answer, and the form's name as well. The range of days has quick picks: Today, Last 7 days, This month and Last month. When the site has answers from several forms, you can pick the form. A line under the filters says how many answers match, and one press clears every filter. Opened from a page form's "Answers" button, the inbox keeps to that form.
The Download (CSV) button downloads exactly the answers the filters keep. The file has the time each answer came in, the form, then every answer in the order the form asks them, under the form's own labels. A ticked box reads as a word, and stars and dates are spelled out as in your email. At the end come the names of attached files and where the visitor came from.
The file opens straight in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets, with letters such as ä and õ intact. For an Estonian admin the cells are separated by semicolons, which is what Excel set to Estonian expects, and for an English admin by commas. An accountant can get last month's orders as one file at the end of the month, without anyone copying them by hand.
The server makes the file. Answers above your plan's monthly limit stay out of it, just as their content is hidden in the list.
A cell that starts like an Excel formula gets an apostrophe in front, so opening the file never runs anything a visitor typed into the form.
Frequently asked questions
No. Your existing forms keep working. You add the new fields, rules and times when you need them. Some templates already use the new types: the time-off request has its two dates side by side and the feedback form's ratings are stars.
Partly. The seven new field types work in all four layouts: the step-by-step, letter and sentence layouts show a rating as a choice of 1 to 5 and multiple choice as buttons, and leave the section heading out. File upload, rules and field widths apply to the classic layout.
No. A restore point does not carry a form's opening and closing times or its answer cap, just as it does not carry the form's integrations. Otherwise an old closing time could close a form you have opened again since.
Yes. The page script fills the hidden field from the page address at the moment of sending, also on an exported site that posts the form straight to another service.
